What was the cause of the prohibition? Who did it effect?Women and outrageousDuring this time America had an Era or time of social, political and economic advancement. The goal of the society was to fix the problems because the government with ability or desire to fix the problems attempted to persuade the free market system. The women wanted the right to vote and also to the influence of lawmakers to start progressivism. Health and safety was also a big issue to people to make sure people were safer in event that people may experience in work. Also people wanted a safer building code and specific training for people for the jobs that were available. Temperance was an increasingly dangerous point for prohibition. The buy, sell, trade of alcohol was a major social issue. All these factors lead to prohibition that increased violence, sickness and unemployment. This effected women, the government and in broad terms the entire population of the 1920's.
The Significance of the 21st AmendmentThe appeal
Because of the rise of crime, bootlegging and the increase in gangsters with the billion dollar industry gave people the ability to be able to distribute alcohol once again. This gave the government the ability to reppeal the 18th amendment. This Amendment was ratified on December 5, 1933.

The Significance of the 18th AmendmentRebellionThe 18th amendment was put in in society to ban the buying, distribution and trade of alcohol but not the consumption. Women believed that it cause the violence at home. This was a time when people developed other ways of getting alcohol. This amendment gave rise to the illegal production of alcohol by gangsters with 32,000 bars being in New York alone. This was more of an enforcing problem the Volstead Act gave the U.S. treasury and the police power to enforce the amendment though they (police) were some-what part of the problem through instigation and being involved in the crime.

Alphonse Gabriel "Al" Capone was an American gangster who attained fame during the Prohibition era as the co-founder and boss of the Chicago Outfit. His seven-year reign as crime boss ended when he was 33 years old. Both of their careers ended due to prosecution of tax invasion.
